Restaurant Assistant Manager

SUMMARY

 The Assistant General Manager role at Tally’s Silver Spoon will be to actively supervise, coach, counsel, direct, train, and mentor employees in meeting Company standards. The G.M. will independently initiate all FOH employment actions such as hiring, termination, suspension and discipline as well as manage all aspects of employee relations to ensure a positive, harmonious, compliant, cooperative, and professional working environment. The G.M. will be responsible for overall effective business operations of the restaurant utilizing the assistance of the Assistant General Manager and Manager including but not limited to:

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ordering from and maintaining relationships with purveyors to ensure adequate supply of all alcohol and FOH needs on the floor such as flatware, glasses, linens etc.

  • Physical inventories as required by accounting.

  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal alcohol laws and service policies

  • Actively oversee all dining room activity, cleanliness, service, proper seating, reservation management, door greeting, table visits, wine service, and guest satisfaction

  • Maintain adequate activity on social media such as Facebook and respond to Trip Advisor reviews as necessary, as well as update Tally’s website as needed to reflect accurate prices promotions and menu items while managing and responding when necessary to the Tally’s e-mail account.

  • Daily opening and closing functions of the POS system as well as daily updates to the system’s fresh sheet and maintaining accurate prices as reflected on the menu.

  • Maintain POS system and be able to troubleshoot and address I.T. problems as they arise.

  • Maintain adequate cash flow for restaurant to effectively function and pay all servers out at the end of a shift.

  • Accurately count cash and close out all books at the end of service document all sales and daily cash activities as listed on closing sheets for accounting.

  • Scheduling of all FOH employees as dictated by business volume.

  • Actively oversee delivery of accurate payroll to accounting on a bi-weekly basis.

  • Maintain and actively pursue musicians as necessary to accommodate the restaurant’s needs for entertainment.

  • Strive for the best, most unique and diverse wine menu possible while adhering to given parameters of cost and storage limitations.

  • Must be able to lift 25-35 lbs. on a regular basis, stand for extended periods of time and move continuously throughout the shift.

  • Wear business casual attire so as to set yourself apart from other employees on the floor as a recognizable management figure.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years experience in a restaurant leadership role. College degree in hotel/restaurant management is desirable. A combination of practical experience and education will be considered as an alternative.

  • Knowledge of computers (MS Word, Excel) and POS systems.

  • Proficient in the following dimensions of restaurant functions: food planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation, security, company policies and procedures, personnel management,  recordkeeping, and preparation of reports.
